Health risk assessment is the largest practice at Sciences, and is at
the core of what we do. All of the other practice areas feed into health
risk assessment in one way or another. Health risk assessment has been at
the core of regulatory decisions in the U.S. for at least 40 years. Dr.
Gibb, the President at Sciences, spent over 25 years at the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, with most of that time at EPA’s National Center for
Environmental Assessment where he held positions of Assistant Center Director,
Associate Director for Health, and Senior Science Advisor. Other scientists in
the company have also played key roles in the development of the science of risk
assessment. Some areas we have assisted clients with health risk assessment
include:
- Assessment of the risks of environmental substances in all media, including air, water, and soil,
and multipathway scenarios.
- Development of methods for improving the accuracy and transparency of health risk assessment.
- Application of health risk assessment to assist decision-makers in the regulation of new and existing
chemicals.
- Experience with Exposure Assessment
- Assessing the risk to all parties that may be exposed to potentially harmful substances that have been or could be released into the environment.
- Reproductive Health Assessment
- Carcinogenicity Assessment
- Development of Public Health communication products for health risks
- Scientists at our firm are experts in many of the latest methodologies and guidance in exposure assessment, including the modeling of the fate and transport of environmental substances in air, water, and soil.
