Dr. Anthony Scialli presents "REACH" paper.
Dr. Anthony Scialli was invited to present a paper titled, “REACH legislation: Hazard versus Risk” at the 15th Annual Green Chemistry and Engineering Conference on June 21, 2011. The conference, sponsored by the American Chemistry Society, was held in Washington, D.C. Dr. Scialli explained the difference between hazard and risk. He maintained that REACH is essentially hazard-based, and he contrasted REACH with the more risk-based approach of the US Environmental Protection Agency. The incorporation of anticipated human exposure levels is possible under REACH, but is not primary in determinations of marketability that are made under the law. Dr. Scialli discussed ways in which registrants are attempting to use exposure considerations to decrease the impact of REACH on their products. Back to News Home |
