Dr. Gibb testifys before the Democratic Policy Committee of the U.S. Senate

On August 3,2009, Dr. Gibb testified regarding the health effects of hexavalent chromium at a hearing of the Democratic Policy Committee concerning hexavalent chromium exposures experienced by soldiers and workers at a water treatment facility in Iraq in 2003. Dr. Gibb is the senior author of "Lung cancer among workers in chromium workers in chromium chemical production" which forms the basis of the quantitative risk assessment of hexavalent chromium performed by NIOSH in its draft 2008 update to its criteria document on hexavalent chromium. The Gibb et al. study also is the basis of the current OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit for hexavalent chromium. Dr. Gibb is also the senior author of "Clinical findings of irritation among chromium chemcial production workers".
